Is my data secure and backed up?

All of your data is backed up at least every night. Your information is stored on many servers so that if one server goes down, your data is still safe.
You can access the website through an encrypted SSL connection by going to https://getitdoneapp.com
You can also back up your data yourself by using the “Save as Spreadsheet” link in your Export menu at the bottom of your screen:

Is the sync between iPhone and online automatically encrypted, so it is secure even over 3G or an unsecured wireless network?

If you have Get It Done iPhone App version 1.0 (35) or greater all sync traffic is automatically encrypted for you.

It would be great if you had a setting that automatically connected the account via https instead of http.

Thanks for the suggestion.
There is no automatic setting but I just bookmark https://www.getitdoneapp.com so I always use the SSL site.
